Our Mission

At BackRoads K-9, our mission is to empower individuals and strengthen our community through specialized K-9 training. We now focus exclusively on K-9 programs, collaborating with the Georgia Jeep Alliance for shared community initiatives. Through our training programs, we offer four levels of American Kennel Club (AKC) training, including:

  • Obedience Training (Levels 1 & 2)
  • Puppy Training and Socialization
  • Service Dog Training for individuals with physical disabilities, Veterans with PTSD & TBI, and First Responders

Additionally, we offer new programs:

  • Therapy Dog Program
  • Children’s Program for those under 18.

Everything we do at BackRoads K-9 is community-based, helping those who need it most.

Meet Our Team

Our dedicated staff is committed to providing exceptional training and support to the community.

Chris Albright – Founder Chris

A lifelong resident of Bowdon, GA, joined the Army right after high school and served in several deployments, including leading a task force in Baghdad in 2003. After an honorable 14-year career, Chris was diagnosed with Combat-Related PTSD and TBI, which led him to explore the world of service dogs. Since returning to Bowdon in 2015, Chris has channeled his passion for giving back into founding both the Jeep and K-9 groups, positively impacting his hometown.

Chris and his wife, Beverly, have four children and four grandchildren. His personal experience with his service dog, Coco, inspired him to bring the healing “power of the paw” to others.

Bobbi Caverly – Executive Director of Training and Operations

Introduced to the service dog world in 2016, Bobbi started her journey when her trainer encouraged her to train her German Shepherd as her service dog. Though her first attempt didn’t work out, she eventually met her current service dog, Stormi, in 2019. Stormi assists Bobbi with daily tasks related to her Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, reminding her to take her medication, helping her pick up items, and providing stability support.

Josue Maldonado – Trainer Originally

From Puerto Rico, Josue joined the U.S. Army in 1997, serving 20 years, including time with Special Operations. His first service dog, Mack, became a trusted companion for his son with Autism, while his second dog, Gunnie, supported Josue until COVID-19 when Gunnie bonded more closely with his wife. Passionate about training, Josue continues to work with veterans, helping them experience the life-changing benefits of service dogs.

Dedicated to Community and Canine Companionship

BackRoads K-9’s team fosters a positive environment where individuals can find empowerment and companionship through expertly trained service dogs. Our team’s unique experiences and commitment to the community allow us to make a lasting impact, strengthening the bond between people and their canine companions.
